Anti-Oxidants

Oxidation - A chemical reaction that transfers electrons from one molecule to another. Oxidation is a natural process in the body that causes cells to age and decay.

Free Radicals - After oxidation occurs a molecule is left with unpaired electrons known as an open shell configuration. These unpaired electrons are highly reactive and damage cells as they steal electrons from other molecules to balance their electron pairs.

Antioxidant - A molecule which prevents or slows down oxidation. Our body produces natural antioxidants to combat oxidative stress and inflammation and the cell damage that results. However, the aging process and the various environmental and life-style stressors we face every day create more free radicals than our bodies can naturally fight off.

ORAC - Developed by food nutrition researchers at Tufts University’s USDA sponsored Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging, the ORAC test measures a food’s antioxidant ability to neutralize free radicals and potentially mitigate health imbalances. The power of each fruit or vegetable is measured in Trolox equivalents ( u mole TE/g) per gram. Nutritionist recommend at least 3,000 ORAC per day and more if under any of the various stressors most of us face each day. Most individuals get only 1,200 ORAC units or less per day.

Free radicals are like stress they wear away at our health and vitality. In fact stress has been shown to increase free radicals along with other factors like smoking, pollution and aging. While stress is just part of life we can minimize its effects by adding a healthy source of antioxidants to our daily diet.

A balanced oxygen molecule.

Ingredients

Acai:
Acai is known to have very high antioxidant properties. During a recent in vitro test the well known antioxidant phenols and anthocyanin chemicals were extracted from the fruit. Acai has the ability to support healthy and normal cellular tissue growth. The ORAC value of Acai is one of the highest in the world.

 Mangosteen:
Mangosteen contains Xanthones, which are a specialized family of antioxidants. Antioxidants fight free radical damage. Mangosteen has much research behind it, more than many other health supplements. According to medical research, Xanthones have anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-parasitic properties as well as their fabulous antioxidant effects.
  Blueberry:
Blueberries contain 14 mg of Vitamin C and 0.8 mg Vitamin E per 1 cup of blueberries. In addition, blueberries contain anthocyanins and phenolics that can also act as antioxidants. Based on data from the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging (Boston, MA), blueberries are among the fruits with the highest antioxidant activity.
Raspberry:
As an antioxidant food containing ellagic acid, raspberries help prevent unwanted damage to cell membranes and other structures in the body by neutralizing free radicals. Raspberry's flavonoid content is also well documented. In addition to their unique phytonutrient content, raspberries are filled with traditional nutrients, primarily in the antioxidant and B vitamin categories. Raspberries emerged from a nutrient ranking system as an excellent source of manganese and vitamin C, two critical antioxidant nutrients that help protect the body's tissue from oxygen-related damage.

Berries
The new Super Food
Berries, more than any other food, are associated with a remarkably long list of health benefits.

Cranberry:
Cranberries have long been valued for their ability to help prevent and treat urinary tract infections. Now, recent studies suggest that this native American berry may also promote gastrointestinal and oral health, prevent the formation of kidney stones, lower LDL and raise HDL (good) cholesterol.
Strawberry:
Strawberries, like other berries, are famous in the phytonutrient world as a rich surce of phenols. In the strawberry, these phenols are led by the anthocyanins (especially anthocyanin 2) and by the ellagitannins. The anthocyanins in strawberry not only provide its flush red color, they also serve as potent antioxidants that have repeatedly been shown to help protect cell structures in the body and to prevent oxygen damage in all of the body's organ systems. Strawberries' unique phenol content makes them a heart-protective fruit, an anti-cancer fruit, and an anti-inflammatory fruit, all rolled into one.
Berries are Rich in
Flavonoids
Known to have diverse beneficial biochemical and antioxidant effects.
Phytonutrients
Including carotenoids the red, orange and yellow pigment components of plants which promote health and protect against age related conditions.
Macronutrients
Nutrients that our bodies need in smaller amounts, and include vitamins and minerals.

Goji Berry:
Goji berries are rich in antioxidants, particularly carotenoids such as beta-carotene and zeaxanthin. One of zeaxanthin's key roles is to protect the retina of the eye by absorbing blue light and acting as an antioxidant. In fact, increased intake of foods containing zeathanthin may decrease the risk of developing age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the leading cause of vision loss and blindness in people over the age of 65.

Yumberry:
yumberry juice is rich in antioxidants like proanthocyanidins and contains many vitamins including vitamin C, thiamine, riboflavin, and carotene. Yumberries are rich in oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPC), which are antioxidants that give the fruit their color. OPC is said to fight oxidation 50 times better than vitamin E and 20 times better than vitamin C.

Berry Power:
The pigments that give berries their beautiful colors are also good for you health. Berries contain phytochemicals, flavonoids, vitamins and minerals all which are important for building and maintaining health and energy. Flavonoids are a phytochemical which are one of the reasons we need to eat fruits and vegetables every day. In addition Yum Berry Juice is fortified with Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin D2, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12,Biotin, Pantothenic Acid, Calcium, Phosphorus, Iodine, Magnesium, Zinc & Copper.

The Yum Berry Juice blend is packed with the most concentrated high potency berries available.
